KUNAK: International sailors participating in the “Sail Malaysia Passage to East Yacht Rally 2024” programme were delighted with the warm welcome from local residents throughout their adventure destinations in Sabah.
Tourism Malaysia Board Member and founder of Sail Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr Tengku Zainal Adlin Tengku Mahamood, said the cultural uniqueness and good treatment from the community were very encouraging, with various activities such as cultural dances and community friendliness making the sailing participants very happy with the reception.
Welcome dances and displays of various ethnic costumes were presented by the Kunak Neighbourhood Watch Community upon the arrival of the group of travellers on Friday.
“It reflects the harmony among the multi-ethnic community. They celebrate the arrival of visitors with special treatment, with cultural dances, traditional food, local fruit dishes, and so on. The sailors are very happy with this,” he told Daily Express when met on Saturday during the visit of international sailboat participants docked here.
