PAPAR: Some 1,000 delegates of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Pantai Manis Division here are reminded of the “Langkah Kinabalu” (Kinabalu Move) episode last year and against disobeying the party.
Its Chief Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail said they need to be reminded of this black episode in January last year where some political leaders wanted to bring down the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led State Government.
The delegates are urged to stay true to Gagasan Rakyat and fully support GRS which has proven to safeguard the rights, interests and needs of the people of Sabah and the State.
“I also call on the delegates not to have different dreams when sleeping on the same pillow. In others words, although they are in one party, they should not have different political fights or direction,” he said.
The former Pantai Manis Assemblyman said this after officiating the annual general meeting of Gagasan Rakyat Pantai Manis Division at a multipurpose hall here.
He was referring to the attempt by BN Sabah Chairman cum leader of Umno Sabah, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who worked with Warisan Plus but failed to bring down the government.
Rahim also cautioned about those against people or even own members who have different political agendas and might divide them to go against the party.
Rahim, who is also Angkatan Hebat Chairman, said certain plotters, especially the opposition, continue to undermine the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
There is a tendency on the part of some to test the intelligence of the people of Sabah by spreading an agenda of “Keluar Malaysia” (Sabah to be out of Malaysia).
“I fully support the firm stance of Hajiji regarding Sabah remaining in the Malaysian federation.
“Any desire to leave Malaysia will be detrimental to the people and the State.”
“Let’s not forget that one of the main targets of SMJ is to improve the economy of the people and the State, including increasing the agricultural and economic activities of the rural population,” he said.
He welcomed the State Government’s decision to revive the Sabah Rice Board with its vital role to increase the level of rice self-sufficiency in the State to 60pc by 2030
“We also take note of Sabah’s trade achievement of surpassing RM100 billion in 2022, which was a record of the highest growth and this gives the impression that Sabah’s economy under the administration of the GRS government is very encouraging.”
