Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the independence that was fought for together by our predecessors must be defended.
“National independence is fought for by Malaysians of various races. Malaysia’s success was built on joint efforts. For that, the independence of the country and its people must continue to be defended,” he said.
Raisin said the community should not allow the land nor our minds to be recolonised.
“Let us continue to revive independent thinking and spirit and continue to adhere to the concept of justice and equality, strive to eliminate poverty and ensure that prosperity can be enjoyed together.
“Together we burn the ends of the struggle, for us to gather, for us to continue to fuel the spirit of independence, for us to continue to light the torch of independence,” he said.
The text of his speech was read by Deputy Director of the Pupil Development Sector of the Sabah State Education Department, Muddin Beting, at the 67th
