Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Day which is celebrated simultaneously with National Day has become history for Sabahans, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
“At the Ministry level, we have instructed all polytechnics and community colleges in the country to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their premises and also the flags of their respective states.
“Especially in Sabah, this is quite unique, because this year is a historic year where we will celebrate National Day and Sabah Day at the same time.
“This is a new history for Sabah and we want all Malaysians in Sabah to unite under one roof so that we can ensure that the State and the country will continue to be protected in terms of peace and security.
“So, we have to maintain this harmony and ensure that Malaysia will last forever,” he said when met after officiating the 2024 Jalur Gemilang Freedom Adventure Programme Kota Kinabalu Stage at Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, here, Tuesday.
He said the KMJG programme is very good because it involves all levels of society in fostering the spirit of independence.
“We involve the students of government agencies and also our young generation who are at this Polytechnic so that they can both feel the spirit of independence as we celebrate National Day and also Malaysia Day together soon,” he said.
The KMJG 2024 convoy consisting of 60 participants from various agencies chose KK Polytechnic as the last stop after going around the entire State in 19 days.
Also present were Assistant Minister of Finance Tan Lee Fat, KK Polytechnic Director Md Nor Abdul Halim and Sabah Information Director Jainisah
Mohd Noor as the leader of the KMJG 2024 convoy.
