Kota Kinabalu: A director of a company was charged with two counts of committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM1.7 million three years ago.
Wong Kim Hing, 52, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to both charges against him.
On the first count, Wong is accused of embezzling company’s money amounting to RM1,507,574.80 between April 28 and Dec 29, 2021.
On the second count, he allegedly committed criminal breach of trust involving RM200,669 between July 22 and Sept 12, 2022.
The offence, under Section 409 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping or with a fine, upon conviction.
The court fixed Sept 25 for pre-trial case management.
Wong, who was represented by counsel Chen Wen Jye, was granted bail of RM20,000 for both the charges with two local sureties.
Apart from that, Wong was also ordered to report himself once a month at a nearest police station, pending disposal of his case and to surrender his passport to court, if any.
