Kota Kinabalu: Preparations for the Sabah Day 2024 celebration are going smoothly, said Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
Dr Jeffrey, who is also Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister, said Sabah Day held for the first time not only promises a lively celebration but also gives meaning and inspiration to the people of Sabah.
“For the first time, Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin will grace the Sabah Day celebration this year.
“On that day, we will also hold a concert and some other programmes such as decorated vehicles.
“We will also receive flags from runners from throughout Sabah, one of which I will hand over to Juhar.
“Preparations are going well and we hope the weather on the day of the celebration will be good because we are celebrating in an open area,” he said after a paying courtesy visit to Juhar at Istana Seri Kinabalu, here.
Dr Jeffery, who is also the 2024 Sabah Day Celebration Main Committee Chairman, said other interesting activities have been held in conjunction with the celebration since August 24, including concerts, bazaars, talks, historical exhibitions and poetry competitions.
“Sabah Day 2024 is not just a celebration but also a manifestation of the spirit of unity, Sabah pride and common progress.
“Through this meticulous preparation, Sabah is now ready to celebrate Sabah Day with full glory and leave a deep impression on everyone involved,” he added.
The Sabah Day 2024 celebration will take place at Padang Merdeka here this Saturday, starting at 6pm.
