Kota Kinabalu: Sabah needs the right strategies to harness its vast natural resources, diverse cultures and ethnicities and immense potential to become a flourishing economic hub, said Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Shahelmy Yahya.
“Sabah has a remarkable diversity of natural resources, rich cultures and ethnicities with immense development potential, which gives us a distinct competitive advantage,” he said, noting that it takes more than just resources to turn such potential into real economic outcomes.
Speaking at the 2024 Excellence Entrepreneur Awards Night, Shahelmy emphasised the importance of a strategic mindset – the theme of this year’s event – as a guide to overcoming challenges in the post-pandemic era and seizing opportunities to achieve success.
“Strategy is more than a business tool, it must be a mindset that guides us forward, whether for individuals, businesses or government – the right strategy is key to success,” he said at the event hosted by the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (Sabah Branch).
