Kota Kinabalu: The feasibility study on the proposed extension of the railway line from Sembulan to Sepanggar is expected to commence between this year and 2025.
Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk lr Shahelmy Yahya said the plan, which focuses on enhancing logistics and connectivity, will help improve the way people commute, transport goods and ease traffic congestion.
“We are targeting the feasibility study to start this year or in 2025,” he said, adding he will get an update from the State Railway Department on the status and whether it has appointed a consultant.
Responding to questions about the design of the railway, Shahelmy said whether the railway would carry passengers or freight will depend on the feasibility study.
