BEAUFORT: Difficulties faced by Kampung Tabuk-Klias residents in transporting their agricultural produce will soon be over with the ongoing paving works of the damaged roads leading to their farms.

Lumadan Assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam said that about RM1 million has been allocated by the State Government to upgrade the 1.8 kilometre road.

“The paving and maintenance works, which began last July, have now reached 75 per cent completion and are expected to be fully finished by mid-September,” he said.

He said this after inspecting the project’s implementation together with Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah, here, Sunday.

Ruslan, who is also the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, said that the road was previously difficult for vehicles to traverse as it had not been maintained for a long time.

He said this caused hardship for residents, especially farmers, in transporting their agricultural products such as oil palm and fruits.

“Therefore, after this, residents will no longer have to face these difficulties once this project, which resulted from the State Government’s concern, is completed. It will bring many benefits to them,” he said.

On the same day, Ruslan and Matbali also had the opportunity to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Kampung Gadong’s open hall project, here.

He said that RM160, 000 has been allocated by the Sabah State Islamic Religious Affairs Department for the construction of this 3,200 square foot infrastructure, which is expected to be completed next October.

“Once completed, this facility can be used for organising any school activities more comfortably, thus providing greater benefits to the SAN Gadong community.

“Therefore, we appreciate Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for his concern, which has enabled the construction of this infrastructure known as the DHRM Hall,” he said.
