‘Don’t let your talent go to waste’
Johnny gives some pointers to the Tabs players.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC’s head of youth development Johnny Dominicus urged young players to grab the opportunity to learn and fulfil their potential in the sport.

He told the Tabs trainees at their training ground on Sunday that it is important for them to take their training seriously if they want to go far in the sport.

“Every player at a young age needs to make the most of the opportunity so that your talent does not go to waste. You must treat the training sessions under any certified coach seriously.

“Don’t waste the opportunity given to you because Sabah always needs the services of talented and quality players to represent the team. You should be aware of the goals and must look further into the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Tabs Safa Bandaraya teams captured the Under-10 and Under-8 titles at the Merdeka Cup grassroots football tournament organised by Sandakan District Football Association in Sandakan recently.

One of their teams also finished as runners-up in the Under-12 category while another team took the third spot in the Under-8 category.

Assistant head coach Hassan Madisah said the Under-12 team were unlucky to lose 0-1 in the final as a result of a deflected goal.

“It was just unlucky as we were playing really well until the deflected shot that wrong footed our goalkeeper.

“It was also the only goal the team had conceded throughout the competition,” he said.

Despite failing to lift the Under-12 title, he was pleased with their successes in other categories and praised the efforts, determination and commitment of the six coaches, team managers and support from the parents.

Tabs vice chairman SA Ramlye also congratulated the teams’ success and said the management has always advised their players who are selected to produce their best in the tournament so that their training will not go to waste.
