Kota Kinabalu: Delays in flight services should be compensated, said the Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta).
“We welcome the new regulation for flights delayed for five hours or more to be fully refunded,” said its Chairman Dato’ Seri Winston Liaw.
“It is not fair to passengers who have scheduled their time.
They should be allowed to reschedule their next flights at no extra cost if passengers are informed in advance of the date of travel.
“If there is a last-minute delay, passengers should be compensated a certain amount of money,” he said.
He was commenting on the announcement by Transport Minister Anthony Loke that airlines must provide mandatory full refunds to passengers of flights delayed for five hours or more.
The Transport Minister said the move, which comes into force from Sept 2, follows amendments to the Malaysian Aviation Commission’s (Mavcom) Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code (MACPC) 2016.
