Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Fish Marketing (Safma) is offering local retailers, especially in the interior areas, cheap fish supplies through the “Ikan Rakyat” programme.
Its General Manager Syed Mohd Hamizan Roslan said the programme offers a variety of fresh fish at a special price of RM6.99 per kilogramme to help consumers get quality protein sources at an affordable price.
He said the programme also aimed to increase the involvement of local retailers in the seafood supply chain, thus supporting economic growth.
“With this initiative, Safma remains committed to ensuring that quality and affordable seafood can be enjoyed by all levels of society in Sabah,” he said in a statement, Friday.
He said the programme will also benefit consumers in the interior of Sabah who had problems obtaining fresh fish supplies at reasonable prices.
“We hope this programme will allow local retailers to expand their business while helping the community get fresh fish at a lower price,” he said.
