BEAUFORT: The anticipation of the Muslim community in Kampung Kangsa for a larger and more comfortable place of worship has been fulfilled through the infrastructure construction project that has now begun.

Lumadan Assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam said that RM250, 000 had been allocated by the Sabah State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) for this project.

“Of that amount, RM100,000 is for the cost of filling the site for this prayer hall, while RM150, 000 is for the construction of the prayer hall building, totalling RM250,000.

“The Kampung Kangsa Prayer Hall building, which has an area of 60 square feet and external site of 200 square feet, is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

“Once completed, this infrastructure, equipped with basic facilities, can accommodate up to 300 worshippers at a time,” he said after officiating the Symbolic Ground Breaking Ceremony of Kampung Kangsa Prayer Hall, here, on Friday.

Ruslan, who is also Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, officiated the same ceremony for the construction project of Kampung Berumbai Prayer Hall, here.

He said RM250, 000 had also been allocated by Jheains for this project, with the same costs for building construction and site filling work, including the size of the prayer hall.

“The construction of these two prayer halls aims to replace the old and dilapidated prayer halls built nearly 42 years ago, as they were small in size and made of wooden planks.

“Therefore, the construction of these prayer halls will benefit about 600 Muslim residents in both villages, thus fulfilling their dream of having a more comfortable and safe place of worship,” he said.
