KOTA KINABALU: A unique dance performance themed “Rumah Madani, Jiwa Merdeka”, featuring five segments, will be presented during Malaysia Day celebrations at Padang Merdeka on 16 September.
Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the special performance will highlight various aspects of Malaysia’s success, involving a hundred cultural artists and six local singers.
“The first segment, Negaraku, portrays the patriotic spirit of Malaysians and a sense of pride in our history, culture, and national heritage,” he said after an interview session at KupiKupifm studio here on Wednesday.
“The second segment showcases the uniqueness and diversity of cultures, focusing on the unity of Malaysia’s various ethnic groups, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, and the indigenous peoples of Sabah and Sarawak.
“The dynamic progress segment, on the other hand, illustrates the continuous process of change and development in the country, encompassing economic, social, political, and technological advancements.”
According to Joniston, the unique dance also includes a segment on the nation’s transformation, expressing pride in the changes and achievements since independence.
“The final segment, Jiwa Merdeka, reflects the people’s freedom from negative elements in interpreting the patriotic spirit.
“This is conveyed through aspects of thought, social and economic integration, ultimately shaping a strong, harmonious, and progressive unity among the people,” he said.
State Information Department Media and Corporate Communications Senior Assistant Director Diana Dominic and Corporate Communications Assistant Director Siti Mariam Aziz Rashid were also present.
