Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is crazy to ask Sabahans to reject national parties in the coming state elections when Warisan itself went national and fielded candidates in the peninsula in the 15th General Election and lost.
“Shafie also forgot that it was through a national party (Umno) that he became a Member of Parliament and was later appointed Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Deputy Minister of Defense, Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and the Minister of Cultural Unity, Arts and Heritage.
“In 2018 he also became Chief Minister of Sabah with the support of a national party after failing to defeat the Barisan Nasional led by Tan Sri Musa Aman,” Sabah PKR Youth Communications Director Fekirie Gobet said.
He was responding to Shafie’s call to the Chinese community in Tawau, recently.
He reminded Shafie that Warisan only won three parliamentary seats in the last GE15 when it went solo without the support of national parties.
“Shafie became crazier after failing to get support during the failed coup attempt (with Sabah Umno leaders Bung Moktar and Salleh Said Keruak) against the GRS-Pakatan Harapan Sabah Government in early 2023.
“He should look at himself before pointing fingers. He failed to solve basic infrastructure problems, especially roads, water supply and electricity when he was Federal Minister and Chief Minister.
“What other hatred is Shafie trying to cultivate to gain support? He sings the slogan ‘unity’ but instils hatred towards national parties of which he himself leads from Sabah,” he said.
