SHAH ALAM: Police have obtained a seven-day remand order against 19 members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings’s (GISBH) top management, including its CEO, Nasiruddin Ali.
The 19, including, seven women aged between 25 and 65, were brought before magistrate Wan Noora Nisa Ngadirin at the Shah Alam magistrates’ court at 3pm.
They will be remanded until Sept 25.
All of them are being investigated under Section 32(a) of the Child Act 2001, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Amendment) Act 2022.
They were taken to the lock-up at the Shah Alam police headquarters after their remand hearing.
Last Wednesday, police rescued 402 children from 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan which the authorities had linked to GISBH.
They also arrested 171 people, including an ustaz and a hostel warden.
According to the police, the investigations showed that at least 13 of the children were allegedly sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.
GISBH had denied it operated the welfare homes that were raided and rejected claims children under its care were sodomised or forced to sexually assault others.
However, Nasiruddin has since admitted that "one or two" cases of sodomy had occurred within the organisation in the past.
He also denied claims GISBH was imparting deviant teachings to children and adolescents at its welfare homes through the company’s doctrine.
Four people linked to the company have since been charged with numerous offences, including sexual assault.
