Kota Kinabalu: Three local surfers took on the challenge of riding powerful waves at Tanjung Aru Beach 3 on Thursday morning, testing their skills against the formidable swells.
The recent heavy downpours and strong winds in Kota Kinabalu had created ideal conditions for surfing, but also presented a formidable challenge for the surfers.
Despite their constant attempts to catch the waves, the trio only managed to successfully ride a few for a few seconds at a time.
The surfers’ determination and skill were evident as they battled the powerful waves, showcasing their ability to navigate the turbulent waters.
Their efforts were a testament to the thrill and difficulty of surfing in such demanding conditions.
Sabah is located in the northern part of Borneo and is the main surfing area on the island.
Most of the well known surf spots are located on the west coast near the city but as you travel up north to Nexus and Kudat the waves can be bigger and more consistent.
Surfing is a surface water sport in which an individual, a surfer (or two in tandem surfing), uses a board to ride on the forward section, or face, of a moving wave of water, which usually carries the surfer towards the shore.
