Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old shop assistant was charged with 14 counts of committing criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving a sum of RM9,727.60.
Ben Arron Shamsul pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim, to all the charges against him on Friday.
On the first to 14th count, Ben is accused of breaching the trust given to him as a shop assistant by WH Smith Malaysia which entrusted him with all business affairs of the shop.
The charges stated that Ben had have printed several Telcos E-pay and scanned several items for his personal use but did not hand over the property as daily income for the shop.
He allegedly committed the offence between Feb 15 and March 4 this year at the shop at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, here.
The offence under Section 408 of the Penal Code carries a jail between one and 14 years, and whipping, and liability to a fine, on conviction.
The court set Oct 17 for pre-trial case management and offered bail to Ben of RM3,000 in two local sureties for each charge.
Ben was also ordered to report to police station every Friday of the month.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Sofia Sawayan appeared for the prosecution while Ben was not represented.
