SANDAKAN: The strong support from the local community suggests that Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) should be given the Sungai Sibuga seat to contest in the upcoming state election, says Datuk James Ratib.
The PGRS Sugut Division Chief and Beluran-Libaran Chief Coordinator said he is confident PGRS will secure victory in Sungai Sibuga.
He said this during the annual meeting of the Women, Youth, and Beliawanis Movement of People’s Ideas in the Sungai Sibuga Division at Dewan Sri Libaran.
The meeting was attended by Sungai Sibuga PGRS Division Head Datuk Amirshah Yaakub, Sungai Sibuga PGRS Women’s Head Senator Annabell Perian and more than 1,000 delegates.
In his speech, James advised PGRS leaders in the Beluran and Libaran areas to lead sincerely, embrace challenges and serve the people generously.
James, also the State Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister, acknowledged the State Government’s ongoing critical challenges, particularly in addressing water, bridge and health issues.
However, he is confident these issues will be resolved if GRS is entrusted with full responsibility.
“I was informed of the need for a health clinic in Kampung Tinusa, and I will include this in the 13th Malaysia Plan,” he said.
James also called on the State Government to rebuild the 44 homes lost in the Kampung Seri Menanti, Penangah fire.
He said the State Government is responsible for rebuilding the homes of those affected by the fire.
Additionally, James had instructed officers from the Social Welfare Department to assess the needs of the fire victims in Kampung Seri Menanti.
