Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC II head coach Alto Linus praised his players’ fighting spirit in their 2-2 draw with Penang FC II in the Malaysia Football League (MFL) Cup away tie at the City Stadium on Tuesday.
The team had to come from two goals down to snatch a point through striker Azhad Harraz Arman who managed to score in the 91st and 93rd minutes.
The first goal conceded by the team was an own goal by Dinesh Rajasingam in the 64th minute and the second from Aiman Fitrie Ismail’s shot in the 70th minute.
“I am very satisfied with the overall performance of the players. Credit must be given to them for working extremely hard to ensure we return home with at least one point.
“This is what we want from them, which is to keep fighting. The spirit was always there even after we conceded the goals and that helped us to bounce back.
“It is a very positive result as we were in control from the start and had several chances to score in the first half as well,” he said.
The draw was the second for the team this season following the 1-1 draw with Kuching City FC II in the last match played at home.
They remain the only team winless after nine games and their next match is against Terengganu FC II at home on October 23.
