Kota Kinabalu: Sarawakian swimmer Fraidden Dawan made a notable impact at the 2024 Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma), securing six gold medals in total, it has been reported.
Four of these victories came from individual events while the other two were achieved in team categories, DayakDaily reported.
Fraidden said he was satisfied with his results although they fell short of his personal best of 10 gold medals in the 2014 Para Sukma.
“Initially, I only targeted four gold medals in the individual category. However, winning an additional two gold medals in the team events is a bonus for me," he was quoted as saying.
At 38 years old, Fraidden shared his desire to continue representing Sarawak in future Para Sukma Games should the opportunity arise.
Despite his age, he still qualifies for the next Para Sukma.
"However, I will no longer be representing the national team. I have been part of the national team for 14 years," he reportedly said.
