Tuaran: A mother and daughter were killed after being hit by a car while crossing the road near the Kampung Rugading junction along Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Tuaran, early Monday. 

Tuaran District Police Chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the two victims suffered severe head and body injuries, and were confirmed dead by health workers at the scene following the 5.50am incident.

He said the Myvi was from Kota Kinabalu towards Tuaran. 

Noraidin said the Myvi driver involved turned up at the Tuaran District Police Headquarters (IPD) and was remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation or contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Haffiz, via 011-61600964.

It was learnt that the mother was sending her daughter to school.
