Kota Kinabalu: Photos of a puppy tied to the back of a car and dragged along a Penang road have reportedly gone viral.
Animal welfare organisations including the Seberang Prai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) were notified, leading to a swift investigation into the matter.
It was claimed to be an accident and the puppy was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
However, netizens demanded accountability with many questioning how such an oversight could occur.
The puppy was reported to be stable, but required close monitoring due to infections.
A detailed medical report from a hospital outlined the treatments the puppy received, including wound care, pain relief and laser therapy.
The Seberang Prai SPCA is currently involved in assessing whether it can be safely returned to the owner or if he will need to be rehomed.
Penang Hope of Strays assured netizens that funds raised will go directly towards the puppy’s ongoing treatment and recovery.
