Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old was charged in the Sessions Court Tuesday with possessing 41.1gm of 3.4Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).
Victor Chin pleaded not guilty to the charge before Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
He is accused of having the drugs at 11.45pm on May 27, this year at a unit in Beverly Hills Apartment, Penampang.
The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping of at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
The court set Nov 4, this year for pre-trial case management.
Pending the date, Chin was ordered remanded further until disposal of the case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while counsel Luke Ressa Balang defended Chin.
In another case, a 59-year-old Filipino was jailed four months for entering the State illegally.
Pendy Sulaiman admitted before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain to entering the State without any document.
Pendy was arrested on Sept 4, this year at 5.56pm in the Telipok area after failing to produce any identification documents.
The court ordered Pendy to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and to be referred to the Immigration Department after his release from prison.
