Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu is expected to see a boost in tourism even if only for few hours with the anticipated arrival of the Carnival Panorama cruise ship on Oct 16.
It is scheduled to arrive at 6.30am before departing the same day at 4pm.
The vessel is expected to bring about 5,000 visitors, including crew, to the city.
The Carnival Panorama typically operates routes from Singapore and Long Beach, Los Angeles, often sailing to various destinations in Mexico and across the Pacific Ocean.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew is scheduled to welcome the visitors at the dock.
The brief stop by a large cruise ship is expected to have a positive impact on various sectors of the local economy, including restaurants, shops, tour operators and transportation services.
