Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) has chosen Kampung Long Latei and Kampung Long Suling in Ulu Baram, Telangu Usan, Miri, Sarawak as its Madani Foster Villages.
This is part of its efforts to achieve the objective of empowering the rural community, in line with the call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has emphasised the importance of developing villages for the well-being of rural communities.
“The International Youth Centre (IYC), an agency under the KBS, acts as the implementation partner with Humanitarian Care Malaysia Movement (MyHumanitarian), a non-governmental organisation which previously carried out the Clean Water Supply Project in the area.
“This (Madani Foster Village) project covers various efforts to upgrade facilities in the villages and development of youth in remote areas,” the ministry said in a statement Friday.
It added that some of the crucial progress achieved since the project started in August were the installation of solar street lights, upgrading of water tanks, construction of a new incinerator and several other projects that are expected to be completed by the end of December.
