Meanwhile, two men were fined RM25 or one-day jail for disturbing public peace, three years ago.

Chong Ma Sang, 73, and Phang Kiong Shin, 63, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to the offence committed on June 20, 2021, at 10.30am, in front of a house at Taman Dai Ming Baru, Jalan Kolombong, Inanam.

They were charged under Section 8(1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance which provides for a RM25 fine or a jail term of up to one week.

The court was informed by the prosecution that both men, who were neighbours, were quarrelling because Phang was upset with Chong for deliberately pressing the accelerator pedal of the lorry he was driving, causing it to emit black smoke in front of Phang.

The heated argument between them escalated into a scuffle until Chong’s children intervened to calm the situation.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shearil Aizad and Inspector Alia Nuurlysa Adnan prosecuted.
