RM1.3 million Bakti aid for over 4,000 SPM, STPM, STAM candidates

MEMBAKUT: The Sabah Government has distributed approximately RM1.3 million in Special Examination Cash Assistance (Bakti) to more than 4,000 students in the South West Coast Division.

State Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, said the students are candidates for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM), Malaysian Higher Certificate of Education (STPM) and Malaysian Higher Certificate of Religion (STAM) examinations involving the Beaufort, Sipitang, Papar and Kuala Penyu Districts.

“The government has allocated RM200 for each of those who will sit for SPM, STPM and STAM exams.

“In total, we have provided RM1.3 million to help our children through Bakti contributions to more than 4,000 students in the three districts of Papar, Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Sipitang,” he said.

The Sabah Religious and Education Exco also urged all students in the state to take advantage of the 14 initiatives provided by the government, including two new aids that will be introduced, namely Contribution to IPT Students in Sabah (Sentosa) and Contribution to Sabah School Activities (Sukses) starting next year.

“Hopefully, it can be utilised well and we have also provided information to the children about several initiatives that they need to apply for when they enter university or at the diploma, degree, matriculation and foundation level,” he said after officiating the Closing of the Preparation Course for Sitting for the 2024 SPM Examination organised by the Dang Sanak Foundation (YDS) at the Seri Wawasan Kg Pimping Hall near here, on Saturday.

The government has been implementing Bakti or one-off assistance of RM200 to all students in Sabah and students from Sabah who will sit for the SPM, STPM and STAM examinations for the past three years.
