“As a Sabahan, I share a collective hope that the next TYT (Tuan Yang Terutama di-Pertua Negeri) will embody integrity, inclusivity and a deep understanding of the State’s unique cultural and religious diversity,” Terence said in a statement, Wednesday.

Terence highlighted Richard’s extensive legal expertise and dedication to justice as key reasons for his nomination.

According to Siambun, Richard’s leadership demonstrated respect for Malaysia’s constitutional framework, particularly regarding Islam’s position as the religion of the Federation, while safeguarding the rights of all communities.

“This proposal does not in any way jeopardise the position of Islam in Sabah.

“As guaranteed by the Federal Constitution, Islam’s status as the religion of the Federation remains intact and respected,” he said.

Siambun emphasised that Richard’s advocacy for unity and inclusivity underscores his suitability for the role.

“His inclusive approach ensures that all communities, regardless of faith, are treated with fairness and dignity,” Terence said.

He added that Richard’s appointment would preserve and strengthen harmony among Sabah’s multiracial and multi-religious communities.

The Warisan leader also underscored how the appointment would reflect Sabah’s identity as a diverse and harmonious state.

“Richard’s leadership would reaffirm Sabah’s commitment to maintaining peace, inclusivity and progress,” Terence said, expressing confidence that the proposal aligns with the aspirations of Sabahans.

Terence called for serious consideration of Richard’s candidacy, describing it as “a step toward fostering unity, celebrating Sabah’s diversity and ensuring good governance for all Sabahans.”
