TAWAU: A woman suffered injuries to her head, hands and legs after physically assaulted by her younger brother at Tawau Hospital on Wednesday.
Tawau Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin, said the incident occurred when the suspect suddenly pulled her sister’s headscarf and pushed against the wall with his elbow.
According to him, the suspect also acted violently by hitting the victim repeatedly, causing her to suffer head injuries and pain in the legs and hands.
“The fight was later broken up by security guards on duty, while the frightened victim filed a police report for her own safety,” he said.
This led to the suspect’s arrest in a raid on an unnumbered house in Lorong Piang, Jalan Utara Baru.
He said the suspect was taken to the station for further investigation under Section 323/326A of the Penal Code which carries a one-year jail or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, if convicted.
Under Section 326A, a prison sentence of twice the maximum period is imposed for conviction under Section 323.
