KOTA KINABALU: Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President Tan Sri T.C. Goh said the statutory term of the State Government, led by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, which only ends in October, next year, should be respected.
He said any issues or disputes, whether in politics or development, should be resolved through appropriate and legal channels.
“All parties should adopt an objective and rational perspective and refrain from acting as self-appointed ‘judges’,” said Goh, who is also Federation of Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Associations (FSLHA) President.
He reiterated that maintaining political stability to promote economic development across various sectors is the greatest aspiration of the people and should remain a priority for Sabah’s progress and prosperity.
Goh pointed out that a stable state environment and a united populace are key to ensuring that Sabahans can continue to live and work in peace while attracting foreign investments.
Hence, he urged all political parties and leaders in Sabah to exercise self-restraint and prioritize the broader public interest.
“Do not overly politicise every issue,” he said.
On the potential dissolution of the State Assembly to hold the 17th state election, Goh said the current government’s term only expires in October next year in accordance with the State Constitution.
“From the perspective of the people and development, there is still ample time for political parties and leaders to focus on serving the people and advancing Sabah’s progress,” he said.
He reiterated that the primary demand of the people is political stability and steady economic growth.
