Kota Kinabalu: Some 450 students of Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) residing at the college’s hostels in Likas get to buy their essential basic items at 50pc discount under a “Program Bakul Rahmah, KTYS Pilihanku.”
KTYS Chief Executive Officer Datuk Tah Nia binti Jaman said the programme is funded by the Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS) with two private corporate organisations - Tabung Haji Sabah and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad - to assist underprivileged and B40 students.
The students would be able to buy the essential items through a cooperative managed by KTYS staff. They include Maggi, 2-in-1 Milo, crackers, snacks, cookies, toothbrush and tooth paste, among others.
“Actually this programme is open to all students as long as they live in our hostels.
