Man injured in Tuaran crash

Tuaran: A 45-year-old man was injured and trapped in his Toyota Fortuner SUV which collided with a trailer lorry near the Tenghilan Hardware at round 4.35am on Wednesday.

The victim sustained injuries to his leg and right shoulder.

Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Mohammad Nor Amit, said his team received an emergency call at 4.39am. 

A total of 13 personnel, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle, were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the fire team found the victim trapped in the driver’s seat of the SUV. “Firefighters used special equipment to extract the victim before handing him over to the Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel for further treatment at Tuaran Hospital,” he said.

He added that inspections were conducted on both vehicles and the surrounding area to ensure there were no other safety hazards.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The rescue operation ended at 5.23am.
