Rhinos get triple boost
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC will be boosted by the presence of three first team players in their Malaysia Cup quarter-final first leg away tie against Kuching City FC at the State Stadium tomorrow (Sunday).

Newly appointed Sabah FC head coach Martin Stano (pic) said having Stuart Wilkin, Dominic Tan and Daniel Ting in the team has given them the quality and balance needed to achieve a positive result from the match.

According to him, the trio with the injured Darren Lok were released by the national team bound for the third Group A match of the 2024 Asean Cup against Thailand tonight (Saturday) following early agreement with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

“Of course, we are very pleased to have them in the squad and we also have team captain Park Taesu back from injury for the match on Sunday as well.

“We will do our best to get a good result this Sunday.

“Even though we have won the last Super League match in Kuching, I am certain that this time it will be a different game in the Malaysia Cup.

“Playing away and home require a slightly different approach and the cup atmosphere will also play an important part.

“All the players must have the winning mentality and they need to stay focused and not underestimate the opponents’ ability even though we won the last game,” he said on Friday.

He also relishes the opportunity given by the management to coach the team after the exit of Datuk Ong Kim Swee.

“This is going to be a sweet memory as it will be my first match as the head coach of Sabah FC,” he said.

Sabah FC had earlier defeated Kuching City FC 2-1 both home and away in the Super League matches held in May and last week.
