Jaywalker killed after being hit by car in KK

Kota Kinabalu: A jaywalker died after being hit by a car and landed on top of a Perodua Axia at Jalan Coastal near Sutera Avenue early Sunday.

City police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said the car driver, a man in his 30s, was from the direction of Centre Point headed towards Tanjung Aru.

"The man had suddenly crossed from the left side of the road resulting in the crash. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

"Investigations revealed carelessness on the pedestrian's part as a footbridge was located not far from the scene but was not used," he said in a statement.
