BEAUFORT: Residents here, especially those living near the Padas River, have been advised to prioritise their safety during floods.
The advice came from District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Hasbullah Nenggok who provided safety tips to residents.
Among the tips were to stay inside when water rises, refrain from attempting to cross flooded areas, follow official evacuation instructions, stay on higher ground, prepare supplies like food, water and batteries.
Muhammad also advised residents to keep their important documents safe and ensure their handphones are charged.
“Ignoring evacuation orders could put lives at risk as emergency services will be overwhelmed helping multiple victims,” he said.
He urged residents to be proactive, cautious and to prioritise their personal safety during flood conditions.
