Ministry hands over 14,210 units of Village Street Lights
According to KKDW, 12,300 LJK units were installed in Peninsular Malaysia under Phase 11, while 1,910 units were installed in Sabah. All LJK units use 75-watt light-emitting diode (LED) lamps installed on existing PBEN electricity poles.
PUTRAJAYA: The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) on Tuesday handed over 14,210 units of completed Village Street Lights (LJK) to state electricity authorities (PBEN) under Phase 11 of the 2022 LJK Installation Programme in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

In a statement, KKDW said the LJK Installation Programme for Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah Year 2022 Phase 11 was funded with a RM150 million allocation under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK12).

“The programme commenced on May 30, 2023 and was completed on Oct 25, 2024. The project was completed 36 days ahead of the original contract deadline of Nov 29, 2024, by the appointed contractor,” read the statement.

According to KKDW, 12,300 LJK units were installed in Peninsular Malaysia under Phase 11, while 1,910 units were installed in Sabah. All LJK units use 75-watt light-emitting diode (LED) lamps installed on existing PBEN electricity poles.

“To date, a total of 525,081 LJK units have been installed in rural areas nationwide,” the statement added.

All completed LJKs will be handed over to PBEN, namely Tenaga Nasional Bhd in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah Electricity in Sabah and Sarawak Energy Berhad in Sarawak for operation and maintenance.
