Slain hero cop's widow's home demolished? Not true, says Jauteh
Kota Kinabalu: Police did not demolish a policeman's widow's house in Bugaya Island, Semporna, as claimed on social media, Wednesday.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the viral issue involving one Sitti Bandorah Mahalil was further distorted by certain quarters meaning to thwart the government from eradicating illegal immigrant colonies.

Sitti in a teary eyed video on Facebook claimed police were demolishing her house despite having lost her husband, police Sgt Abdul Azis Sarikon, during the 2013 standoff with Sulu militants in Kampung Simunul here.

It was reported that Sgt Abdul Aziz was among six who experienced brutal deaths in an ambush by the Sulu militants.

Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said the Bajau Laut had acted to torch their own houses to gain online sympathy.

 

She said the demolitions are carried out due to security issues following shooting incidents in Darvel Bay and cross-border criminal activities in the unauthorised settlements.
