TAWAU: A woman here was arrested last week on suspicion of abusing her 10-year-old nephew. 

The boy suffered injuries, including a cut chin, forehead bump, bruising on his buttocks, and a blood clot behind his ear. 

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin confirmed the suspect has been released on police bail pending further investigation. 

A doctor at Tawau Hospital filed a police report after examining the boy's suspicious injuries on Dec 10, prompting the investigation. 

The boy, an orphan who has lived with his aunt since his mother's death three years ago, is currently receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital.
