KOTA KINABALU: Dr Maria Suleiman has been appointed the new Sabah Health Director, replacing Datuk Dr Asits Sanna, who retired on Dec 4.

She received her appointment letter from Public Service Director-General Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz on Dec 17.

Maria brings considerable experience in public health, including work at the Health Ministry headquarters.

She played a key role in managing the Covid-19 outbreak and possesses broad health management experience.

Her past contributions include managing responses to major events like the H1N1 pandemic and the Mount Kinabalu earthquake.
