LAHAD DATU: Sabah Immigration Department deported 180 Filipino illegal immigrants on Friday through the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex here.
The deportees, held at Sandakan and Tawau Immigration Depots, included 64 men, 67 women, and 49 children ranging from seven months to 67 years old.
They were transported to Bongao Jetty, Philippines, via the MV Ming Hai Express ferry under a self-financing program, having violated immigration laws.
These individuals had committed offences such as entering Sabah without valid permits or overstaying, and some had already served prison sentences.
The Immigration Department has now deported 5,993 Filipinos and a total of 8,650 foreign nationals this year and will continue intensifying enforcement against illegal immigration.
