Ram vows to bring back the glory days of archery

Kota Kinabalu: Newly elected Sabah Archery Association president Datuk Ram Singh vowed to bring back the glory days of archery in the State under his leadership.

The Kota Kinabalu District Archery Association president was voted to lead the State body at its annual general meeting held at the Dewan KBS in Kepayan on Saturday.

He will be supported by deputy president Sulaiman Sadude (Tawau), secretary general Hajah Kartini  Haji Kamis (Kota Kinabalu), assistant secretary Rizwan Dahlan (Lahad Datu), treasurer Christinillus Lobinjang (Penampang) and the committee members Mohd Nasri Patang Nagari (Tawau), Amran Atong (Lahad Datu), Dr Andrew Wong Vun Fah (Penampang), Siti Cynthia Dewi  Shawal (Keningau), Davie Mojunting (Kudat), Chong Yew Kim (Keningau), Samson @ Henry Bin Yanga (Ranau), Mohammad Shafie Zulkifli (Lahad Datu) and  Rithzal  Nasir (Kota Kinabalu).

In his speech, he hoped the new lineup will be able to provide well structured support in the development of archery to all the districts with transparent governance and good representation.

He called on all the eight affiliates – Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tawau, Kudat, Ranau, Keningau, Tuaran and Lahad Datu to cooperate and uphold the good name of the sport.

“We must move forward in strength and ensure that state archers from various districts will contribute gold medals at all level of competitions as this is one of the gold winning sports for the State.

“At the same time, the association will also assist the Sabah Para Archery team in their quest for excellence.

“Presently, we have a few experienced and certified archery coaches who have produced national and international archers from  the state.

“Organising more national and international archery coaching courses and seminars in the state are also on the agenda,” he added.

He is also hopeful that more affiliates will be formed in the future and the State body will try their very best in getting funds to organise their respective programmes.
