B40 women taught Tofu skills

RANAU: Some 30 housewives and single mothers here attended a tw0-day Tofu and Soybean water processing course to improve their livelihoods recently. 

Deputy Chief Minister II cum Kundasang Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, urged rural residents to continue to strive to improve their living standards through participation in courses organised at the village level.

Dr Joachim, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing officiated the soybean machine handover ceremony at the Kampung Langsat Hall.

He commended instructors from the SNS Enterprise Training Centre, Siti Noraida Michael Abdullah and the Sabah Industrial Development and Research Department (DIDR) under the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship (MIDE), which provided the soya processing machines.

Dr Joachim, said initiative is one of the Government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate extreme poverty among the people, especially in Kundasang.

“The 2025 Budget recently presented by the Sabah Finance Minister also focuses on various special assistance that will be channelled to the people next year.

However, only those who meet certain conditions are eligible to receive this assistance,” he said.

Siti Noraida said the next course would focus on hydroponic cultivation methods and food preparation processes.

Those interested in using soy processing machines can contact DIDR or the Kundasang Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) for further action.
