KOTA KINABALU: A 13-year-old boy died in a road accident near Kampung Tebobon here on Thursday night.
Initial investigations revealed that a Perodua Axia, driven by a man in his 20s heading towards Bandar Sierra, struck the boy who suddenly ran across the road.
The boy was thrown to the roadside, sustained severe injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.
Preliminary findings indicate the accident was caused by the pedestrian's negligence in crossing the road.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with police urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution and adhere to road safety rules.
