KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity (SE) has urged the public to stop making illegal electricity connections, particularly those in squatter areas.

These connections pose serious safety risks, not only to the perpetrators but also to nearby residents and passers-by.

SE Chief Operating Officer Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusof stated that the company has conducted hundreds of operations to curb illegal connections in squatter areas.

Following an incident on Thursday night in Jalan Lorong Kuala Neutron where a man suffered an electric shock, Sabah Electricity cut the power supply to allow rescue teams to remove the victim safely.

Investigations revealed illegal connections at the site, which were removed, with power restored at 12:58 am, and the public is urged to report such cases via Careline 15444, 088-515000, or WhatsApp 019-852 5427.
