Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency identifies Lahad Datu hotspots
Joint survey conducted by MMEA and Essccom.
LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) carried out joint observation with the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) to identify hotspots in Felda Sahabat and Kunak waters, recently.

Lahad Datu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali, said the observation was carried out with the Chief of Staff of Esscom Sea Operation Division, Maritime First Admiral Abd Razak Mohamed.

He said the two days observation was carried out to monitor the hotspots as well as assess the readiness of MMEA assets in the operation sector.

“Result of the survey found no suspicious incident and fishing boats are seen conducting fishing activities,” he said in a statement.

The Lahad Datu MMEA also carried out 88 security talks (SAR Preventive) in the waters as well as government and non-governmental agencies.

MMEA is constantly increasing control and preparedness at sea and will not compromise on violations of the law in Malaysia’s Maritime Zone.

The MMEA will also continue patrolling and monitoring the national waters.
