SANDAKAN: A senator has advised parents to always monitor the use of social media by their under aged children.
Senator Anna Bell @ Suzieana Perian stressed the importance of the matter in view of the potential negative impact of social media on minors.
She said although the government has decided to ban social media for children aged 13 and below, parents must never be complacent.
She said this during the Preschool Excellence Award Day (HAKPRA) Session 2024-2025 of SK Sungai Kayu here, Monday.
Also present were the headmaster of SK Sungai Kayu, Awang Damit Ayob, teachers and parents including guardians of the pre-schoolers.
On a separate issue, Annabell said the government also clearly takes bullying very seriously.
She advised parents and the school to continue to work together in ensuring that bullying activities in schools do not occur, which has a negative impact on the victims.
Meanwhile, Awang said that the school is also committed so that teachers and parents ensure no signs of bullying at the school.
He assured that teachers and parents are constantly monitoring.
