Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity (SE) has received an offer to develop a 15-megawatt AC (MWac) Large-scale Solar Photovoltaic (LSSPV) project from the Energy Commission of Sabah.
SE Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said the Letter of Notification for the offer was received through a partnership with TNB Renewable Sdn Bhd (TRe).

He explained that the LSSPV project will involve the installation of 15 MWac of solar panels in Kampung Langkon, Kota Marudu, to improve the reserve margin of Sabah’s electrical grid during peak daytime hours.
“This achievement marks a positive step in SE and TRe’s efforts to support renewable energy initiatives and contribute to the sustainability of green energy in Sabah,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
He added that the two companies will collaborate with stakeholders and renewable energy experts to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
Mohd Yaakob also emphasised that SE is committed to green technology, including the development of a 100-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) infrastructure in Lahad Datu.
“SE is optimistic that both the LSSPV and BESS projects will serve as benchmarks for sustainable energy innovation and enhance the potential of renewable energy generation capacity,” he said.
