Kota Kinabalu: Luyang Community Development Leader (PPM) Gee Tien Siong called on City Hall (DBKK) to address alleged misuse of the newly-opened Luyang Multi-Level Car Park.

According to him, since the new multi-level car park in Luyang opened on Jan 1, his unit has received numerous complaints from residents, including some who have lodged police reports, regarding the misuse of the facility.

“The car park has become a gathering spot for car and motorbike enthusiasts during the late evening, with individuals engaging in activities such as revving engines, speeding and playing loud music. These actions have caused significant noise disturbances, particularly affecting families with young children and elderly residents.

“It is important to note that the facility was not designed for such activities. Its limited space makes it unsuitable and unsafe for speeding or large gatherings, posing safety risks to both participants and the general public,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.

“Additionally, we call on DBKK to take immediate action by implementing stricter monitoring measures to ensure the facility serves its intended purpose.”
