SEMPORNA: Sabah Parks on Tuesday issued a notice to temporarily close the Pulau Sibuan Substation, Tun Sakaran Marine Park, for security purpose following the discovery of a bomb-like object.
The object is believed to be remnant(s) of Second World War.
The closure, starting Tuesday until the situation is completely safe, was announced via Sabah Parks’ Facebook site.
Sabah Parks also extended an apology for any inconvenience caused.
District Police Chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the object was believed to be a bomb. However, it has not been ascertained whether the object is an explosive material.
He said Sabah Parks has taken preliminary action by temporarily closing the areas and lodge a police report.
“We will get confirmation from the bomb disposal unit of Royal Malaysian Police for further action,” he added.
